It all began with an idea.
I am Clifton Brantley, marriage therapist by day and professional woodworker by night. My love for woodwork began with an idea…to make a custom desk.
I did not know that the idea of making a desk would ignite a passion in me that I did not know I had. I have always loved working with my hands…putting things together and fixing what’s broken. When I discovered woodworking I found a whole new world of enjoyment. It is true, I am licensed in marriage therapy which I also love doing. I’m not sure how many people get blessed enough to have their dream job and dream hobby but I am glad to be in the number.
You may be wondering what Bezalel means. It is the name of a master craftsman in the Bible, inspired by God to build the temple. I had never heard this story before. I was reading one day and came across Exodus 31:1-5: Then the Lord said to Moses, “Look, I have specifically chosen Bezalel son of Uri, grandson of Hur, of the tribe of Judah. I have filled him with the Spirit of God, giving him great wisdom, ability, and expertise in all kinds of crafts. He is a master craftsman, expert in working with gold, silver, and bronze. He is skilled in engraving and mounting gemstones and in carving wood. He is a master at every craft!”
Can you imagine how I felt after stumbling upon this story?? It was a no-brainer that the name of my woodworking business needed to be Bezalel. Interestingly enough, Bezalel is from the same tribe as Jesus of Nazareth, and Jesus was also a craftsman.
